If you're experiencing problems in your video calls try following these simple steps to help fix the issue.

I can't hear or see the other person, or they can't hear or see me:

  • Check if your browser has permission to access your microphone and speakers.

  • Check your video calling settings to ensure that you've selected the correct microphone and speakers for your audio input and output; and the correct camera for your video input.

  • If you've connected or reconnected a device during a video call, refresh the page and rejoin the call.

  • If you're using a webcam, check if the privacy lock is enabled or if the privacy cover is on; once disabled, you can resume regular video calling.

  • If you're using a third-party app to route your audio or video input, like Mmhmm or Krisp, then make sure the third-party app is running properly and refresh the page to rejoin the call.

The other person can see me, but they can't hear me:

  • Check if sound is enabled on on your device. Refresh the page and rejoin the call when your settings are changed.

  • Check if you've selected the right device for your audio input. Refresh the page and rejoin the call when your settings are changed.

The other person can hear me, but they can't see me:

  • Check if you've selected the right device for your video input. Refresh the page and rejoin the call when your settings are changed.

  • If you're using a webcam, check if the privacy lock is enabled or if the privacy cover is on; once disabled, refresh the page and rejoin the call.

  • Check if there are any current file downloads or uploads in the background or on any other device in your network. You may want to pause or reduce the speed of any file downloads / uploads when video calling.

  • Check if your router is delivering a stable connection. You may want to bring your device nearer to your router to improve the connection quality.

The sound quality is bad:

  • If you're using a portable microphone, you may want to move closer to the mic or increase the volume sensitivity to make it easier for others to hear you.

  • If you're using a phone or tablet, you may want to toggle loudspeaker off to reduce background noise.

  • If there is a lot of echo when others hear you, try using a different room that has more insulation.

The video quality is bad:

  • Try switching to a different Wifi or 4G connection.

  • You can turn off your own video input to improve the overall connection quality.

None of the steps above have solved the problem I'm facing:

  • Try a different browser or device. If the problem persists, contact the MeetFox support team.
